as the simple facts show
If I were an elephant or a peacock,
I would already be satisfied.
If I could live as a hermit in the Kataragama forest,
Or bicycle across the countryside in the month of August,
One half day ahead of the western monsoon,
I would have so many choices.
But, as the simple facts show,
Here I am.
